The Wild West of RV Content: Hidden Agendas, Lawsuits & Big Money

Good Monday morning, everyone!

As I write this, Jennifer and I are beginning to pack up the RV.

Next weekend, we'll be heading to Hocking Hills, Ohio, for our Summer RVCommunity Rally, one of three rallies we host each year. We've been looking forward to this one for months.

People often ask what makes our rallies different. The answer is simple: it's the people.

RVCommunity.com has become much more than an online forum. It's a gathering place for people who share a love of travel, adventure, and making the most of this stage of life. We often say it's a place with no ads, no nastiness, and no algorithms, and that's true. But it's also something more. It's a community of people who genuinely care about one another.

Many of the friendships formed through RVCommunity.com now extend far beyond the screen. Members travel together, meet up at campgrounds, share advice, celebrate milestones, and support one another through life's challenges. What began as a community for RVers has become a community for living well in the second half of life.

At our rallies, you'll see that spirit everywhere. Around campfires. During happy hours. On group outings. In conversations that start with RVs and quickly become discussions about family, travel dreams, health, purpose, and what comes next.

The RV is really just the vehicle that brings us together.

In a world that often feels disconnected, this community continues to prove that meaningful friendships and shared adventures are still one of life's greatest gifts.

Now, on to today's news...

RVPodcast News Edition for May 7, 2026 - Trust, Transparency, and Turmoil in the RV Industry

Here is what we're reporting in today's RV News Podcast.

Today's Monday News Edition tackles some of the biggest stories we've seen in a long time, and they all revolve around one important question: Who can RVers trust?

We examine the headline-making lawsuit involving Battle Born Batteries and popular YouTube reviewer Will Prowse, take a closer look at the growing controversy between Wingman Wisdom and Bish's RV, and discuss why conflicts of interest and undisclosed financial relationships are becoming an increasingly important issue for RV consumers.

I also share some thoughts from my 40-plus years in journalism about how the internet has changed reporting, reviews, and consumer advocacy, and what every RVer should keep in mind before believing what they see online.

Plus, on industry news, we look at the sudden departure of Lippert CEO Jason Lippert and the chairman of the board, a major leadership shakeup that has the RV industry buzzing, and we end with some encouraging news about the tremendous economic impact RVers are having across America.

It's an episode about trust, accountability, and the future of the RV industry, and I think you'll find it fascinating.

RV Question of the Week

QUESTION: "I've been binging your YouTube series 'Does Size Really Matter?' comparing Class B campervans and small Class C motorhomes. Watching it has me curious: do you ever see yourselves downsizing to a smaller rig someday?" - From Jason, via email.

ANSWER: Great question, and one Jennifer and I get more than you might think.

The honest answer is: probably not anytime soon, but we'd be lying if we said the thought never crossed our minds.

We love our fifth wheel. It is genuinely comfortable in ways that are hard to give up once you've had them. A full washer and dryer, a real kitchen, room to spread out on a two-week stay. When we're parked somewhere for a while, it feels like home.

But size has a price beyond the sticker. There are campgrounds we can't get into. Sites we have to turn down. Tight mountain roads where Jennifer is white-knuckling the passenger seat and I'm doing my best not to think about what's behind me. A 35-foot fifth wheel commands your attention in ways a smaller rig simply doesn't.

So yes, sometimes the size is a genuine hassle.

Would we downsize? Maybe someday. But here's what we've actually talked about, the real fantasy version of this: keeping the fifth wheel for longer stays where we want space and comfort, and adding a small Class C for the trips where we want to move around more freely, explore tighter spots, or just travel lighter.

Two rigs, two different ways to use them. It makes complete sense, right?

Jennifer shut that conversation down before I even finished the sentence.

She's not wrong. The cost of maintaining, insuring, and storing two rigs isn't something we can justify right now. But a man can dream.

If you haven't caught the "Does Size Really Matter?" series yet, search for it on our RVLifestyle YouTube channel. It might just get you thinking too.

🦞 Dreaming of Maine? We've Done All the Planning for You

If there is one RV trip that belongs on every RVer's bucket list, it's Coastal Maine. And this summer (or early fall) is the perfect time to do it.

Picture waking up to salty ocean air, exploring picturesque fishing villages, watching lobster boats head out at dawn, strolling through charming seaside towns, and camping near some of the most beautiful coastline in North America. From Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor to hidden harbors, scenic lighthouses, and unforgettable seafood shacks, Coastal Maine is the perfect summer and fall RV destination.

The challenge, of course, is figuring out where to go, where to stay, and how to fit it all together.

That's why Jennifer and I created our Coastal Maine 7-Day Adventure Travel Guide.

We've done the research, driven the routes, identified the best campgrounds, mapped out the must-see stops, and built a complete day-by-day itinerary that takes the guesswork out of planning. Instead of spending hours searching online, you can simply follow the guide and enjoy the journey.

Whether you're planning a week-long adventure or using it as the foundation for a longer New England trip, this guide will help you experience the very best of Coastal Maine with confidence.
