RV NEWS: Starlink Privacy Changes, Flat RV Sales & Camping News

Good morning, friends.

If you’re wondering whether winter is ever going to loosen its grip, you are not alone.

This is the second straight weekend of nasty storms, and the Arctic blast just keeps on blasting. Snow, ice, wind, power outages, flight cancellations, you name it. And get this, there were even snow flurries reported as far south as Tampa. Tampa. That’s just rude.

Jen and I are down on the Emerald Coast in Florida’s Panhandle, and here it dipped to 22 degrees last night. Twenty-two. In Florida. At this point, spring can come anytime. We’re ready.

All of this cold, messy weather has me thinking ahead, way ahead. Which is probably why I’ve been spending my days putting the finishing touches on something I’m really excited about.

This Thursday at 7 p.m. Eastern, I’m hosting a live, interactive RV Travel Planning Workshop, where I’ll walk through exactly how we plan stress-free RV travel and answer your questions live. If 2026 is the year you want fewer headaches, fewer last-minute scrambles, and better trips overall, this one’s for you.

There are only a few days left to register before we have to close it up, so if you want in, head here now:

Now grab a warm drink, pull the blanket a little tighter, and let’s talk RV news, travel, and dreaming about warmer days ahead.

If you RV, travel, or camp, this is news you need to know.

The RV Podcast Monday News Edition is one of two episodes we release each week. On Wednesdays, we share Stories from the Road, have insightful interviews, and offer destination suggestions.

Details, show notes, and more can always be found at RVPodcast.com, the central hub for all of the content we create: books, blogs, podcasts, YouTube videos, and community.

With Michigan reopening 10 state park campgrounds this year after major upgrades, this is shaping up to be an incredible time to plan a Michigan RV trip, or even better, a full Great Lakes adventure.

If you’re thinking bigger than a long weekend, we put together what we consider an awesome value for RVers, our Ultimate Michigan and Great Lakes Bundle. It includes three in-depth RV travel guides covering the Upper Peninsula, the Lower Peninsula, and the Great Lakes Shoreline.

Together, they map out an epic RV trip, from rugged shorelines and quiet state parks to small towns, scenic routes, and stops you won’t find in a generic guidebook. These are written from the road, by RVers, for RVers, with real-world planning details that actually make trips smoother.

If Michigan or the Great Lakes are anywhere on your radar, this bundle is a smart place to start.

Amazon FIND of the Day...

One quick RV gear note while we’re all dealing with this unrelenting cold.

These sudden Arctic blasts are exactly how RVers end up with frozen water lines, cracked fittings, and unexpected repair bills, especially when cold snaps push farther south than anyone expects. Snow flurries in Tampa should be all the reminder we need.

One simple piece of gear that can save a lot of frustration is a heated RV water hose. It keeps water flowing even when overnight temperatures drop hard and fast, without having to disconnect, drain, and reconnect every time the weather turns ugly.

We’ve learned the hard way that it’s not the long cold stretches that get you, it’s the surprise freezes. A quality heated hose takes that stress off the table and lets you ride out those sudden cold snaps without scrambling at midnight.

If you RV in cold weather at all, or even shoulder seasons when weather can flip overnight, this is one of those items that’s worth having before you need it.

Here’s a heated RV water hose that RVers consistently rate highly and that’s saved a lot of people from frozen lines (it's on sale now for 33% off!):
